Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern access to and use of Sky Divergent ("Sky Divergent", "we", "us"), an AI-assisted academic research and writing tool. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Sky Divergent.

AI Liability & Academic Integrity Disclaimer

Sky Divergent is an AI-assisted drafting and evidence-verification tool, not a guarantee of academic, editorial, or publication outcomes. All citations, statistics, drafted text, novelty assessments, journal-fit estimates, and any other AI-generated or AI-assisted output ("Output") are provided for your review and are explicitly marked as requiring human verification before use.

You, the user, are solely and entirely responsible for reviewing, verifying, editing, and taking ownership of all Output before submitting, publishing, citing, or otherwise relying on it in any academic, professional, or institutional context. Sky Divergent does not submit work on your behalf, does not certify compliance with any institution's or journal's academic integrity policy, and does not verify that your specific use of the Output complies with your institution's rules on AI-assisted work.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sky Divergent and its operators disclaim all liability for:

Allegations or findings of academic misconduct, plagiarism, or improper AI use brought against you by any institution, journal, publisher, or examining body;
Rejection, retraction, desk-rejection, or unfavorable review of any manuscript, thesis, or submission that used Sky Divergent at any stage;
Fabricated, inaccurate, outdated, or hallucinated content in any Output, including citations that fail to resolve, statistics that misstate your underlying data, or claims not actually supported by cited sources — even where Sky Divergent's verification systems (citation resolution, claim checking, retraction screening) did not catch the error; and
Any consequence — academic, financial, reputational, or otherwise — arising from your decision to submit, publish, or rely on Output without independently verifying it.

Sky Divergent builds verification tooling (citation resolution against Crossref/OpenAlex, claim-to-source checking, retraction screening, statistical cross-checks) to reduce the risk of error — but no automated system is infallible, and these tools do not transfer responsibility for the final work away from you. Every export includes an AI-disclosure notice for this reason: you are expected to disclose AI assistance to your institution or publisher wherever required, and to make your own judgment about whether that use is permitted.

1. The Service

Sky Divergent provides AI-assisted literature search, citation verification, statistical analysis, manuscript drafting, and related academic writing tools. Features and their availability vary by subscription plan (see Pricing).

2. Accounts

You must provide accurate information when creating an account and are responsible for all activity under it. You must be legally permitted to enter into these Terms in your jurisdiction.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Sky Divergent to:

Generate content for contract cheating, ghostwriting-for-hire, or any service that submits work as someone else's own without disclosure;
Circumvent paywalls or access copyrighted full text through unauthorized means (Sky Divergent only resolves full text through legal open-access sources — Unpaywall, CORE, Europe PMC, arXiv — and never through unauthorized mirrors);
Misrepresent AI-generated content as guaranteed, verified, or human-authored without review; or
Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or overload the service outside normal use.

4. Subscriptions & Payment

Paid plans are billed through Stripe, our third-party payment processor. By subscribing, you authorize recurring charges at the rate shown at checkout until you cancel. Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis — contact us if something went wrong. We do not store your card details; Stripe does.

5. Intellectual Property

You retain ownership of your own inputs (your research topic, data, drafts) and of the Output generated for you, subject to your compliance with these Terms. Sky Divergent retains ownership of the underlying software, models integration, and platform.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that Output will be error-free, that journal-fit or indexing estimates will prove accurate, or that any submission prepared with Sky Divergent will be accepted anywhere.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sky Divergent and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, academic standing, or opportunity, arising from your use of the service — including the specific matters described in the AI Liability & Academic Integrity Disclaimer above. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.

8. Termination

You may stop using Sky Divergent at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, including the Acceptable Use section above.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
